Niki's Window

This short essay is about how there are many things that have gone wrong in Detroit, but there are some people who have found success in the rundown area. One of the main area's of dDtroit that the author writes about is a business district downtown, also known as Greektown. Herron is arguing that the city of Detroit is not holding onto it's history well enough. A lot of buildings are always changing. He speaks highly of one resturaunt which features a window with a cheap old sign with the name Nikki painted on it. At the beginning of the essay Herron seemed very negative toward the city. He uses the term humiliation and I feel that he is meaning the history of Detroit is humiliating, and that is because the history is lost. I myself very rarely go downtown because it is so rundown, but when I do go it is usually to Greektown.
