Very Depressing

The essay I just want to be average was very depressing. For a while in the story it seemed like the writer was just setting the atmosphere for the rest of his story, but it never came. The article was just describing the area he grew up in. It was very sad. The people he described seemed to not really have any want to get out of the area. He said the people were not bad, they just didn't really care anymore. It was like these people were trapped and they just gave up. They didn't seem to have any ambitions, dreams or goals. An important part of the essay is when he says that violence is easy to forget but its the daily draining of the area that effects you for life.
