Antonio's

Antonio’s

When I walked into Antonio’s I felt like I was walking into an Italian home. The restaurant is located in The Heights shopping center right off of Ford Road in Dearborn Heights. In the restaurant the wait staff treated me like I was one of the family. The restaurant is of course run by one big family. The grandma likes to make pasta in this glass room in the front of the restaurant so people can watch. When she isn’t making pasta, she is going around to tables and asking everyone how the food is. I really felt like I was having dinner in this old woman’s house. It really provided me with a feeling of comfort. The place is very laid back and everyone seems really easygoing. The restaurant sets a very relaxing mood with its dim lighting and very neutral colors. On most of the walls there are fake grape fines that give the look Italy is famous for. The soft Italian music playing throughout the restaurant really gives an authentic Italian feeling.

The main reason people come to Antonio’s is for their pizza. They have the most delicious pizza around. They will make it any way you like and bring it out on a large silver stand. The pizzas are not as cheap as a “Hot and Ready,” but after you taste one of these, you will forever be willing to spend the extra cash. One thing that everyone eats when they come to Antonio’s, no matter what entrée they order, is their famous bread. Yes I know its just bread, but it has such a great flavor to it. They bake it with lots of parmesan cheese, which gives it a very zesty taste. Believe it or not, there are people who keep coming back to Antonio’s just for the bread. A main Entrée that I have tried besides the pizza is the chicken parmesan. This was also delicious. They use a very rich tasting sauce that goes so great with the chicken, and it also comes with a side of their tasty spaghetti. The restaurant is a great place for vegetarians also because they have a number of pastas, and they always give you the choice for your spaghetti to come with marinara sauce or their meat sauce.

Antonio’s is very well priced. It is a nice restaurant, but is still affordable. A main entrée will cost you around 10 to 15 dollars. Non-alcoholic drinks cost around $1.50. It’s very affordable, yet you still enjoy great food.

As I took a closer look at the restaurant to check on the cleanliness I was definitely satisfied. The silverware as well as the plates and glasses were spotless. I checked out the bathroom and it seemed to be very clean. The bar area was kept with everything exactly in place. There were also a good number of busboys on duty so tables were cleaned almost immediately after people stood up to leave. I was impressed.

As far as the service goes it was great. The waitress was very quick to come take our drink orders. When we decided on what to eat she took our order and made no mistakes. The food was brought out to us relatively fast. The waitress came around more than enough times to check on us and see if we needed anything else. Something that I found entertaining was this old Italian man who would go around to all the tables and fill up your water glass. He would make small talk and tell jokes. This doesn’t sound like a big deal, but again it really made me feel like I was a guest in somebody’s home. The service was great and I really enjoyed my dining experience there.

Antonio’ Ristorante impressed me. I was most impressed by how they made me feel like I was dining at someone’s home. When I’m there I feel more like a guest and less like a customer. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys good Italian food and great service.
